The gospels have a lot to say about and a lot to say to – disciples who would be separated from the teacher they had sought to follow. There is a kind underlying anxiety about what it will be like when Christ is no longer with them in the flesh. How will they carry on? How will they carry it forward? Jesus speaks to this worry in John 14, offering a word comfort and great hope.
