Sunday Livestream Worship Service

Live on Sun, May 24, 9:55am MDT    Rev. Dr. David Pettit

The Tower of Babel is a kind of origin story – the origin of human pride, of humanity scattered across the globe, speaking languages we don’t understand, with cultural practices that make us furrow our brow, worshipping other gods and pilgrimaging to different temples. Pentecost offers a different narrative possibility and trajectory. In the Pentecost narrative in Acts, the Spirit becomes the translator, people long separated through language differences are now connected and reachable, all hearing the good news in their own language, taking it back to their own communities and culture; now the tapestry of language and culture attesting to the Spirit who moves about through the whole world. There is great grace, allowance for difference, and redemptive hope contained here. What might it mean for us to trust and catch the movement of this Holy Spirit?
