MCPC seeks to follow Christ’s commandment (John 15:12-13) that we are to love each other as He has loved us, through participation in and support of mission ministries. Our intent is to help those who are truly needy, whether as a result of lifelong circumstances or catastrophic events. MCPC missions support local, national, and global programs, some of them administrated by the Presbyterian Church (USA) and others chosen by MCPC leadership. Worthy programs are selected based on fiscal responsibility, Christ-centered focus, and general management.

MCPC strongly urges its congregational family, youth and adults, to become directly involved in hands-on missions work. Examples of such yearly endeavors include participating in a local Feed My Starving Children food-packing event that helps provide meals to starving children in over sixty countries; making and serving meals to the residents and leaders at the Dale House in Colorado Springs; providing toys and necessities in shoeboxes for children around the world and packaging them for delivery through Operation Christmas Child; collecting old greeting card fronts for recycle to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children; taking part in a Christmas Sock & Underwear Tree Drive for families at La Puente Mission in Alamosa, CO; and providing Christmas gifts for 25 troubled teenagers at the Griffith Center for Boys near Larkspur.

Support for missionaries is given through PC(USA), Greater Europe Mission, and New Hope International. Missionaries supported by MCPC through PC(USA) include Jane Holslag in Lithuania and Rev. John and Gwen Haspels in Ethiopia. Jane teaches English and theology at Lithuania Christian College International University, a four-year liberal arts school in Klaipeda. John and Gwen currently work in a remote area of Ethiopia in an ambitious project of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. John plants churches while Gwen supervises medical clinics among the Suri people in Tulegit. Ted and Brandy Cox are under appointment with Greater Europe Mission. They are involved in film and video projects with a goal to bring together church ministries and people who need to experience God in a relevant and accessible way. Rei and Romana Abrudan are with New Hope International and working primarily in Romania where they are involved in developing and coordinating Sunday school and a variety of youth programs for various churches in Romania and beyond. They also work with local orphanages in Romania and hold seminars for preparing young adults for marriage. Their ministry includes translating and publishing Christian material.

Financial assistance is also provided by MCPC to several other Christ-based organizations. Some of these are Faith in Practice, Impact for Life, Life Network, Springs Rescue Mission, La Puente Mission, Hope and Home, and Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity. The mission bulletin board in the Great Room at MCPC provides current information about missionaries and organizations supported by our church.

Peanut-Free Facility

MCPC strives to accommodate those who have severe peanut allergies, including ingestion, touch and airborne sensitivities. Please help them stay safe by refraining from bringing food items with any peanuts, peanut butter or other peanut by-products into our building. Thank you!
